Laven Luo identified three key criteria that define a good job: challenges that unlock personal potential, reasonable financial rewards, and high growth potential. These criteria influenced his career choice by leading him to the venture capital (VC) industry, which met all of his requirements for a good job.
Luo began his career as a structural design engineer at Shanghai Electric Group after obtaining his master's degree from Beihang University in 2014. However, he soon realized that his true interests lay in the entrepreneurial and investment sectors. He then left his engineering job and, in 2015, entered the VC world by working as an investment assistant to Yuan Yue, the then chairman of Horizon Research Consultancy Group and CEO of Pegasus Brigade.
Over the years, Luo climbed the ranks in the VC industry, eventually becoming a partner at Eminence Ventures and the youngest member of the firm's investment decision-making committee. His focus on industry digitization, fintech, global expansion, and life sciences, along with his continuously refined and targeted investment strategies, show the influence of the three key criteria he identified for a good job. His dedication to learning and adapting, as well as his professional and patient investment approach, demonstrate his commitment to personal growth, financial rewards, and tackling new challenges in his career.
