Xiaomi 13 Reportedly Explodes in China, Injuring Toddler

AsianFin -- A Xiaomi 13 smartphone reportedly exploded during normal use in Jiangsu province, causing injuries to a 3-year-old boy who was watching a video at the time. The child sustained burns to his hand and lower limbs. Xiaomi (01810) has not yet issued a public response regarding the incident.

Customer service representatives from Xiaomi said that the cause of the device’s combustion requires professional inspection, and the reason cannot be determined at this time.

The news has sparked significant discussion on Chinese social media. Netizens noted that the Xiaomi 13 was officially launched on December 11, 2022, making it less than three years on the market. In the comments section, multiple users of the same model expressed concern, saying they had never imagined such a device could explode during regular use and urging the company to release the results of a thorough investigation as soon as possible.
