Boeing Union Rejects Sweetened Pay Proposal for Workers

Sep 24, 2024, 5:36 a.m. ET

Asianfin--Boeing Co. has presented a proposal to striking workers for a 30% pay increase as it seeks to resolve a strike that has paralyzed factories across the Pacific Northwest for over a week.

This new offer is an improvement over the initial 25% raise that was rejected earlier this month by members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). However, it still falls short of the 40% increase the union originally requested. Boeing has stated that this offer is final and will only be valid until the end of September 27, increasing pressure on workers to accept.

IAM District 751 President Jon Holden expressed surprise at Boeing's direct approach, saying that the union will not present the offer to its members for a vote, as it is not feasible given the tight timeline.
