AsianFin--Chinese merchants on Amazon have expressed mixed opinions following the U.S. e-commerce giant's introduction of a new returnless refund policy, mirroring similar approaches by Chinese platforms Pinduoduo and Taobao.
According to Bao Haojing, general manager at Chinese IT firm Yuanqi Shizu, the new policy allows merchants to avoid disposal fees for unsellable goods due to quality issues. Furthermore, Amazon will not charge refund commissions, meaning merchants will only lose the faulty goods and associated logistics fees, helping them better manage their return rates.
On August 13, Amazon rolled out its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Returnless Resolutions program, which enables merchants to offer refunds or replacements for products under USD 75 without requiring customers to return the items. Participation in the program is optional, and sellers can apply to join.
