Elon Musk's X Faces Nine Privacy Complaints Over Unauthorized Use of EU Users' Data

AsianFin--X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, is facing nine privacy complaints after allegedly using data from European Union users to train its Grok AI chatbot without obtaining their consent.

Late last month, a vigilant social media user discovered that X had started processing posts from regional users for AI training purposes. This led to concerns from the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), which oversees X's adherence to the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The GDPR mandates that all personal data usage must have a legitimate legal basis, and breaches can result in fines of up to 4% of global annual turnover. The complaints, submitted to data protection authorities in Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, and Spain, allege that X processed European users' posts for AI training without proper consent, violating GDPR requirements.
