AsianFin--HP is planning to shift over 50% of its personal computer (PC) production from China to other locations, aiming to reduce geopolitical risks. The company is also set to establish a backup design center in Singapore.

According to insiders, HP, which currently manufactures most of its PCs in China, intends to relocate production to Thailand within the next two to three years. An internal target has been set to eventually produce 70% of its notebooks outside China. At least five HP suppliers are building new manufacturing plants or storage facilities in Thailand, with two suppliers increasing their production capacity at HP's request since early this year.
