Jul 18, 2024, 12:22 a.m. ET

AsianFin--Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD will launch three additional models in the Vietnamese market this October and plans to expand its dealerships to 100 by 2026, Vo Minh Luc, Chief Operations Officer of BYD Vietnam, announced on Thursday.

On Thursday, BYD introduced its first three pure electric models in Vietnam, marking its latest effort to penetrate the Southeast Asian market, where governments impose fewer trade barriers and tariffs.

The Shenzhen-based carmaker is now selling the Dolphin, a compact hatchback; the Atto 3, a compact crossover; and the Seal, a midsize sedan, and has been accepting reservations since June.

"Vietnam is the last market BYD is entering in the Asia-Pacific region and is an important market in this region," Luc said.
