The global average memory (DRAM) of smartphones reached 8.4GB as of December 2025, marking a new all-time high, according to a report released by market research firm CounterPoint Research.
The report noted that in the high-end smartphone market (priced over $600), the average memory capacity is projected to reach around 11GB. To meet the demands of high-intensity multitasking and the local operation of large language models (LLMs), 12GB memory is rapidly becoming the standard configuration for high-end smartphones.
