China added over 430 million kilowatts of new wind and solar power capacity in 2025, marking a 22% year-on-year increase and setting a new record.
Wind power contributed 120 million kilowatts and solar power 318 million kilowatts last year. The total installed capacity for wind and solar power reached 1.84 billion kilowatts, accounting for 47.3% of the national total, surpassing thermal power for the first time in history.
Green electricity consumption continued to rise. In 2025, wind and solar power generation increased by 25% year-on-year, accounting for 22% of the total electricity generation. This has significantly contributed to renewable energy’s share of total electricity generation, which now accounts for nearly 40%.
