The European Commission has issued a final affirmative anti-dumping ruling on pre-cooked or pickled sweetcorn kernels imported from China, imposing tariffs on several Chinese producers and exporters.
According to an official announcement, the commission has decided to levy anti-dumping duties of 31.0% on Sunflower Group subsidiaries, including Sunflower Food Industrial (Xinfeng) Co., Ltd. and Sunny Food Co., Ltd. In addition, an anti-dumping tariff of 54.3% will be applied to Zhangzhou Tongfa Food Industrial Co., Ltd. Other related companies will face a tariff of 45.1%, while a rate of 54.3% will be applied to all other producers and exporters not specifically listed.
The new duties, which will come into effect the day after the announcement, follow an investigation into unfair pricing practices that allegedly harmed European producers of sweetcorn. The tariffs aim to address the EU’s concerns over Chinese products being sold below market value, which has been seen as detrimental to local competition.
