Chinese autonomous driving company WeRide and global ride-hailing giant Uber have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership, with plans to deploy at least 1,200 autonomous taxis (Robotaxis) across the Middle East by the end of 2027.
The vehicles will cover key markets in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Riyadh and will be integrated into the Uber app, offering public ride-hailing services.
Under the agreement, WeRide will provide the autonomous driving technology and vehicles, while Uber will leverage its platform and global network to manage the operation of the Robotaxis. The collaboration marks a significant deepening of the two companies’ efforts to push forward in the autonomous vehicle space and highlights the growing demand for innovative mobility solutions in the Middle East.
WeRide is listed on Nasdaq and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and has been recognized in Fortune's 2025 Change the World and 2025 Future 50 lists.
