Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Xpeng Motors has begun open-road testing of its GX SUV, marking a significant step towards achieving full autonomous driving capabilities.
The vehicle, which is expected to be released soon, is equipped with four Turing chips, providing a local processing power of 3,000 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), enabling Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving.
Xpeng confirmed that the GX SUV is currently undergoing technical validation for its advanced self-driving system. Earlier on Friday, a camouflaged prototype of the SUV, prominently marked with "L4 Autonomous Driving Test" and "Caution, Yield" signs, was seen undergoing testing on open roads in Guangzhou.
