Siemens announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Canopus AI, a French semiconductor measurement software company.

The transaction was completed on January 12, 2026. Canopus AI, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Grenoble, France, focuses on using artificial intelligence technology to improve the precision and efficiency of wafer and mask measurement and inspection processes.

This acquisition marks Siemens' second major acquisition in the semiconductor software field in 2026. Earlier in January, Siemens announced its acquisition of PCB testing software provider ASTER Technologies.
