Elon Musk said on Thursday that SpaceX aims to achieve full reusability of its Starship rocket this year, a milestone he said could slash the cost of access to space by as much as 100 times.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Musk said the breakthrough would reduce launch costs to below $100 per pound, dramatically lowering barriers to space exploration and commercial activity.

Musk also said SpaceX plans to launch artificial intelligence-powered satellites driven by solar energy in the coming years, outlining a longer-term vision of deploying AI systems in space.

Starship, the world’s most powerful launch vehicle, is central to SpaceX’s ambitions for deep-space missions, satellite deployment and eventual human travel to the Moon and Mars.
