SoftBank Group said in a statement that it completed an additional US$22.5 billion investment in OpenAI on December 26, fully fulfilling the investment commitment it made in March.

Following the transaction, SoftBank now holds approximately an 11% stake in OpenAI, the Japanese conglomerate said.

SoftBank added that, together with US$11 billion in additional funding from other third-party co-investors, which exceeded initial expectations and participated with increased allocations, the total investment commitment of US$41 billion has now been fully secured and put in place.
