Lululemon Founder Chip Wilson Nominates Three Independent Directors, Calls for Board Reform

Dec 30, 2025, 9:40 p.m. ET

Chip Wilson, founder and largest individual shareholder of Lululemon Athletica, said on Sunday that he has nominated three independent director candidates for election to the company’s board at its 2026 annual shareholders’ meeting, escalating pressure on the current board amid slowing growth and leadership uncertainty.

Wilson said he had put forward Marc Maurer, former co-chief executive of Swiss running shoe brand On; Laura Gentile, former head of marketing at ESPN; and Eric Hirshberg, former chief executive of Activision, as nominees for the board.

In a statement, Wilson said the move was aimed at challenging what he described as the board’s weakening strategic judgment and called for a fundamental shift toward creativity and brand-led leadership.

“The Lululemon board must be reformed to give greater authority to experience rooted in creativity and brand building,” Wilson said. “This is the only way to restore shareholder confidence and return the company to a path of growth, product innovation and excellence in quality.”

The nomination comes less than three weeks after Lululemon announced on Dec 11 that Chief Executive Calvin McDonald would step down on Jan 31, 2026, with no successor yet named.
