Tencent has revamped its large language model (LLM) research structure by establishing new divisions: AI Infra, AI Data, and Data Computing Platform, aiming to strengthen its R&D capabilities and core competencies in AI.

Vincesyao (Yao Shunyu), a former OpenAI researcher, has been appointed Chief AI Scientist in Tencent’s CEO/President Office, reporting directly to Tencent President Liu Chiping. He will also head the AI Infra Division and Large Language Model Division, reporting to Lu Shan, President of the Technology & Engineering Business Group.

The AI Infra Division will focus on building training and inference platforms for large models. The upgraded AI Data Division and Data Computing Platform Division will handle large model data and evaluation systems, as well as building integrated data intelligence platforms for big data and machine learning, respectively.

Wang Di will continue as Deputy General Manager of the Large Language Model Division, reporting to Vincesyao. Liu Yuhong and Chen Peng will lead the AI Data Division and Data Computing Platform Division, respectively, reporting to Tencent Vice President Jiang Jie.
