Beijing Authorities Summon Major Internet Platforms Over Real Estate Online Irregularities

Dec 17, 2025, 11:15 p.m. ET

Beijing municipal authorities recently held joint talks with major internet platforms, including Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Beike, 58.com, Xianyu, Lianjia, Wo Ai Wo Jia, and Maitian, to strengthen online ecosystem governance and curb irregularities in the real estate sector.

Officials said some self-media accounts were posting and spreading content that undermined Beijing’s property market, created panic, circulated false information, and used fake listings to attract traffic, seriously disrupting market order.

The authorities demanded that all platforms immediately conduct comprehensive self-inspections, remove illegal content and accounts, and accelerate the establishment of regular internal content review mechanisms to ensure compliance.
