Nvidia Corp Chief Executive Jensen Huang said on Tuesday the company has not yet paid “a single dollar” to OpenAI as part of a previously announced $100 billion investment plan.
Nvidia and OpenAI signed a memorandum of understanding in September outlining a partnership to jointly build large-scale data centers to support advanced artificial intelligence development. Under the agreement, Nvidia plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI.
Huang did not specify when payments would begin or the conditions tied to the investment. Nvidia, a leading supplier of AI accelerators, has seen strong demand for its chips as companies deploy large language models and other AI applications. OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, is expanding computing capacity to handle more complex AI workloads.
