CoreWeave AI Data Centre Project Delayed, Raising Questions Over Delivery Capacity

Dec 16, 2025, 10:28 p.m. ET

Cloud AI computing provider CoreWeave has suffered delays at a key artificial intelligence data centre project after severe weather earlier this year disrupted construction, potentially pushing back the delivery of computing capacity, people familiar with the matter said.

Heavy rain and strong winds in Texas delayed work at a construction site in Denton by about 60 days, preventing contractors from pouring concrete for the facility, the sources said. The setbacks have pushed the project’s completion date back by several months.

The data centre complex is expected to provide around 260 megawatts of computing capacity, which CoreWeave plans to lease to OpenAI.

Additional delays have also stemmed from design changes to data centres being built for CoreWeave by partners in Texas and other locations, highlighting operational challenges as the company races to expand capacity amid surging demand for AI computing.
