Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng Inc. has obtained a Level 3 (L3) autonomous driving road test license in Guangzhou and has officially launched regular L3 road testing, the company announced on Tuesday.
The license allows XPeng to conduct conditional autonomous driving tests on high-speed intelligent connected vehicle test roads in Guangzhou, marking a further step in the commercialization of its self-driving technology.
XPeng has been actively expanding its autonomous driving capabilities, and the L3 road test license enables the company to gather real-world data and optimize its system under controlled conditions, a crucial milestone toward wider deployment.
