TikTok has announced it will invest more than 200 billion reais (approximately US$37.7 billion) to build a data center in Ceará, Brazil, its first data center in Latin America.

The data center will be located near the industrial port of Pecém and developed in partnership with data-center developer Omnia and wind-energy provider Casa dos Ventos. TikTok said the facility will operate entirely on clean energy generated from dedicated wind farms, underscoring both environmental responsibility and the company’s commitment to sustainable operations.

The project was unveiled at an event attended by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. TikTok’s Brazil head of public policy described it as a “historic investment” in the country’s digital infrastructure.

The center aims to improve performance and data resilience for TikTok’s Latin American users while diversifying its global infrastructure amid growing demand for cloud computing and AI services.
