The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative launched by U.S. President Donald Trump to streamline federal operations, has been disbanded with eight months remaining in its mandate, Reuters has learned.

The office, touted as a signature effort to reduce the size of government, faced criticism for delivering few measurable savings. “That doesn’t exist,” Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Scott Kupor told Reuters earlier this month when asked about DOGE’s current status.
