OpenAI said on Wednesday it has reached an agreement with Foxconn to jointly advance the design of next-generation artificial intelligence infrastructure hardware and prepare for potential U.S.-based manufacturing.

Under the preliminary arrangement, OpenAI will share insights into emerging hardware requirements for the AI industry, giving Foxconn guidance as it develops and manufactures hardware at its U.S. facilities.

The agreement does not include any purchase commitments, but OpenAI will receive priority review rights and retain the option to procure hardware in the future, the companies said.
