Alibaba has renamed its Tongyi App to Qianwen App, with the version number updated from 3.59.1 to 5.0.0, according to listings on major app stores.

The change comes as Alibaba has reportedly secretly launched the “Qianwen” project, aiming to develop a personal AI assistant based on its most powerful Qwen large language model.

The new Qianwen App is positioned to compete directly with ChatGPT, marking Alibaba’s entry into the global race for advanced AI applications.
