China’s Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday it has conducted multiple rounds of consultations with the Netherlands over issues involving Nexperia, a global semiconductor supplier, stressing the need for constructive solutions to safeguard the global semiconductor supply chain.

At a regular press briefing, a reporter asked whether Dutch representatives had arrived in China for consultations, and when talks would take place, following the ministry’s earlier approval of the Dutch request to send officials.

Ministry spokesperson He Yadong said China has consistently approached the matter with a responsible attitude towards global semiconductor supply stability and security. He added that China hopes the Netherlands will demonstrate a genuine willingness to cooperate, promptly propose substantive and constructive solutions, and take concrete measures to restore the security and stability of the semiconductor supply chain from the source.
