South Korea’s homegrown AI chatbot zeta has overtaken ChatGPT to claim the top spot in usage time among AI chat applications, according to data released by local market research firm Wiseapp·Retail.
The survey covered 36.61 million Android and 14.61 million iOS smartphone users in South Korea. In October, zeta users logged a total of 73.62 million hours, surpassing ChatGPT’s 48.28 million hours. Other apps in the ranking included Crack (8.98 million hours), Grok AI (1.95 million hours), and CHATIE (1.83 million hours).
However, in terms of monthly active users (MAU), ChatGPT remained the leader with 21.25 million users, followed by zeta (3.36 million), wrtn (2.21 million), and A. (1.88 million).
