China has granted exemptions to export restrictions on Nexperia chips intended for civilian applications, the Ministry of Commerce announced on Sunday. The move is expected to alleviate supply shortages affecting carmakers and automotive component suppliers.
The decision marks Beijing’s strongest indication yet of a willingness to ease the impact of export curbs introduced after the Dutch government took control of Nexperia, a major producer of essential semiconductors used in vehicle electrical systems. The exemptions are aimed at stabilizing supply chains and ensuring steady production within the global auto industry.
