Amap, China’s leading ride-hailing aggregator, is partnering with electric vehicle maker Xpeng Motors to launch Level 4 autonomous robotaxi services on its mobile platform.
“The collaboration between Amap and Xpeng is not merely a business upgrade but a key step in our joint exploration of artificial general intelligence,” said Guo Ning, CEO of Amap, which is owned by Alibaba Group Holding. He added that the two companies plan to expand globally, bringing China’s advanced robotaxi technology to international markets.
Before joining forces with Xpeng, Amap had already built strong partnerships with more than 40 automakers in smart cockpit and advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) technologies. The app currently connects hundreds of mobility service providers nationwide and serves over 800 million monthly active users. Leading robotaxi developers, including WeRide and Pony.ai, have also integrated their services into the platform.
