U.S. President Donald Trump has re-nominated billionaire entrepreneur and SpaceX ally Jared Isaacman to serve as the next administrator of NASA.
Trump announced the decision on Truth Social on Tuesday, praising Isaacman’s “passion for space, astronaut experience, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of exploration and advancing the new space economy,” calling him “the ideal person to lead NASA into a bold new era.”
Isaacman, a longtime friend of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, is the founder of the payment company Shift4 and has commanded two private spaceflight missions. He was first nominated for the NASA post in December last year, before Trump’s formal return to office.
