China Boosts Subsidies to Slash Energy Costs for Major Data Centers

China has stepped up subsidies that could cut electricity bills by as much as 50% for some of the country’s largest data centers, the Financial Times reported Monday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Local authorities are expanding incentives to support tech giants including ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent, which have faced higher power costs after Beijing banned purchases of Nvidia’s advanced AI chips, the report said.
