China’s research, development, and construction work for its first manned lunar mission are moving ahead smoothly, with the country on track to land astronauts on the Moon by 2030, according to the China Manned Space Agency.

Core components of the program — including prototypes for the Long March 10 carrier rocket, the Mengzhou manned spacecraft, the Lanyue lunar lander, the Wangyu lunar suit, and the Tansuo manned lunar rover — have all been completed, a CMSA spokesperson said at a press conference on Thursday.

This year, China has successfully conducted several critical tests, such as the second-stage power system trial of the Long March 10 rocket, the tethered ignition test, the zero-altitude escape test for the Mengzhou spacecraft, and a comprehensive landing-and-takeoff verification test for the Lanyue lander.
