China has inaugurated its first robot simulation training field built entirely with domestically developed technology in Wuhan’s Dongxihu district, marking a major milestone in the country’s push for embodied intelligence innovation.
The core technology behind the facility comes from Beijing-based Motphys and its MotrixSim embodied intelligence simulation platform.
One of the biggest challenges in developing embodied intelligence is data scarcity. Real-world data collection demands extensive physical setups, numerous robots, teleoperation systems, and human operators — making the process costly, inefficient, and limited in scope despite yielding high-quality data.
Simulation-generated data helps address these cost and scenario limitations by creating virtual environments, but developers face the challenge of ensuring these simulated worlds accurately reflect real-world conditions to make the data truly valuable.
