China’s 2025 Hurun Rich List released on Tuesday shows a reshuffle at the top of the country’s wealth rankings. Nongfu Spring founder Zhong Shanshan, 71, has reclaimed the No. 1 spot for the fourth time, as his fortune surged by 190 billion yuan to 530 billion yuan, setting a new record for the richest individual in China.

Last year’s top billionaire, ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming, slipped to second place despite seeing his wealth increase by 120 billion yuan. Zhang’s gains were driven by accelerating growth in the company’s AI business, which continued to push valuations higher.

Tencent founder Pony Ma maintained third place with a net worth of 465 billion yuan, up 150 billion yuan from a year earlier. Meanwhile, Jack Ma and family ranked 11th.

The rise of new consumer and AI tech leaders also stood out in this year’s rankings. Wang Ning and his family, the force behind Pop Mart, jumped to No. 17 as its popular toy brand Labubu fueled stronger performance. Cambricon founder Chen Tianshi ranked 18th, with his wealth increasing by 148 billion yuan, as the AI chipmaker’s stock at times outpaced liquor giant Moutai.
