Kweichow Moutai has named Chen Hua, head of the Guizhou Provincial Energy Bureau, as chairman, marking the fourth leadership change at China’s most valuable liquor maker in five years.

Chen will replace Zhang Deqin, who is stepping down, the company said at an internal meeting on Oct. 25, without providing a reason for the reshuffle.

Born in 1972, Chen has spent much of his career in state-owned enterprises and government roles in Guizhou province. He previously served as general manager of Panjiang State-Owned Capital Operation starting in 2017 before taking on his post at the energy bureau in 2022. He has no direct background in the consumer goods sector.
