A coalition representing nearly all major automakers on Wednesday called on the Trump administration to refrain from imposing tariffs on factory robots and machinery.
The Alliance for Automotive Innovation, which includes General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and most other major automakers, made the appeal following a national security probe launched last month by the Commerce Department. Such investigations give the government authority to impose tariffs, prompting industry concerns over potential disruptions to manufacturing and supply chains.
