OpenAI on Monday unveiled its first artificial intelligence-powered web browser, ChatGPT Atlas, in a direct challenge to Google’s core search business.

Shares of Google’s parent company Alphabet tumbled following the announcement, sliding as much as 5% intraday to a low of $245 before paring losses to close down 2.21%. Trading volume surged 30% from the previous session.
