Nvidia CEO Says U.S. Export Controls Have Wiped Out China Market Share

Oct 17, 2025, 10:32 a.m. ET

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently stated that due to U.S. export controls, the American semiconductor giant is banned from selling its advanced products to companies in mainland China, causing its share of the high-end chip market in China to fall from 95% to 0%.

Huang also described the U.S. technology restrictions on China as a “mistake” and said Nvidia will continue to seek a return to the Chinese market. He made the remarks on October 6 during an event in New York, saying, “At present, we have completely exited the Chinese market. We hope to continue explaining the situation and remain hopeful for policy adjustments.”
