Micron Technology Inc. plans to halt shipments of server chips to Chinese data centers after its business failed to rebound from a 2023 government ban on its products in critical infrastructure, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The U.S. memory-chip maker was the first American semiconductor company targeted by Beijing, a move widely seen as retaliation for a series of Washington restrictions aimed at slowing China’s domestic chip development.
Since the ban, other U.S. chipmakers—including Nvidia Corp. and Intel Corp.—have faced scrutiny from Chinese authorities and industry groups over alleged security risks, although no formal regulatory actions have been taken against their products.
