U.S. Weighs Extending Tariff Pause if China Shelves Rare-Earth Export Curbs

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent hinted that Washington may extend the pause on import duties for Chinese goods beyond three months if Beijing suspends its planned export controls on rare-earth elements.

The two countries have maintained a fragile trade truce this year through a series of 90-day agreements, with the next deadline approaching in November.
