Walmart is teaming up with OpenAI to let consumers browse and buy products directly through ChatGPT.

Daniel Danker, Walmart’s Executive Vice President of AI, Product, and Design, said users will soon be able to shop for Walmart items within ChatGPT and place orders simply by clicking a “Buy” button. The catalog will include clothing, entertainment, and packaged food products from Walmart and Sam’s Club.

The new feature is expected to roll out this fall, though fresh groceries will not be included initially, partly because shoppers tend to repurchase similar items weekly.

In addition to Walmart, OpenAI has also partnered with Etsy and Shopify, allowing ChatGPT users to buy products from sellers on those platforms.
