Mexico to End Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Wind Towers

Oct 11, 2025, 4:52 a.m. ET

The Mexican Ministry of Economy has announced that it will terminate anti-dumping duties on wind towers imported from China.

According to the official statement released on October 3, the decision was made after no Mexican producers submitted a request for a sunset review of the current anti-dumping measures. In accordance with Mexican trade law, the absence of such a request means the duties will automatically expire at the end of their five-year term.

The affected products fall under the TIGIE tariff classification code 8502.31.01, which covers wind-powered electricity generating towers.

The announcement marks a significant shift in Mexico’s trade policy toward Chinese renewable energy components. The original duties had been imposed to protect domestic manufacturers from unfairly priced imports. This move may open the door for increased Chinese wind tower exports to Mexico, potentially reducing costs for local renewable energy projects.
