The Trump administration has implemented another wave of staff cuts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), laying off dozens of employees. Among those affected were senior scientists, "disease detectives," and the entire Washington, D.C. office, according to a report by The New York Times.

The workers received layoff notices via email shortly before 9 p.m. ET (0100 GMT) on Friday. The notices stated that their positions were either no longer necessary or "virtually identical" to roles already being fulfilled elsewhere within the agency.
