The Trump administration has dismissed dozens of employees from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including senior scientists, "disease detectives," and the entire Washington, D.C., office, according to a report by The New York Times on Friday.
According to the report, affected staff received layoff notices via email just before 9 p.m. ET on Friday. The notifications stated that their roles were either no longer necessary or had become "virtually identical" to other positions within the agency.
