AsianFin -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday renewed his threat to impose steep tariffs on films made outside the United States, accusing other countries of taking business from the American film industry.
The remarks follow recent threats of tariffs targeting pharmaceutical products, furniture, and heavy trucks. On Monday, Trump turned his attention to Hollywood, posting on Truth Social that foreign competitors have taken U.S. business “just like stealing ‘candy from a baby.’”
Trump also criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom as “weak and incompetent,” claiming the state has borne the brunt of these losses.
