AsianFin -- Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities predicts that total shipments of Xiaomi’s 17 series will decline by roughly 20% from the original target of around 10 million units.
Without adjustments in pricing or marketing strategies, the series’ total shipments could fall below the 15 series’ roughly 8 million units.
The downgrade is mainly due to weaker-than-expected demand for the standard model, which was initially expected to account for 50–55% of total 17 series sales but has sold only about 15–20% since launch. A key factor behind the underperformance is stronger-than-expected sales of the standard iPhone 17 in China.
