AsianFin -- Switzerland’s Roche on Friday underscored its recent U.S. investments after President Donald Trump announced sweeping new tariffs on pharmaceutical imports.
Trump said the United States would impose a 100% tariff on branded or patented drugs starting October 1, unless manufacturers are building production plants domestically.
A Roche spokesperson pointed to its August 25 announcement that Genentech, its U.S. unit, had broken ground on a new facility in Holly Springs, North Carolina. The spokesperson also cited Roche’s broader commitment, including a $50 billion pledge for U.S. manufacturing and research and development.
