New Delhi, Thursday, September 25, 2025 – Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-owned telecom operator, is set to officially launch its pan-India 4G services on Friday, September 27, 2025, across India. This announcement was made by BSNL officials and confirmed by multiple sources including the company's social media and industry reports.
The launch event is expected to be attended by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, highlighting the government's support for the initiative. BSNL's 4G rollout aims to provide faster internet and improved connectivity nationwide, leveraging indigenous technology and infrastructure.
BSNL had earlier initiated a soft launch of 4G services in the Delhi-NCR region, offering high-speed voice and data services through a partner network. Existing BSNL SIM card users in Delhi-NCR have been able to access 4G services, and new 4G SIM cards are available at BSNL customer service centers and authorized retailers after eKYC verification.
The telecom operator has invested approximately ₹25,000 crore to support the initial 4G rollout, including the installation of 100,000 mobile towers across the country. BSNL plans to add another 100,000 towers in the near future to expand coverage and improve network reliability for both urban and rural users.
In addition to the initial investment, BSNL has committed an additional ₹47,000 crore to further upgrade its network infrastructure. The company is collaborating with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) to deploy locally developed network equipment, aligning with India's push for self-reliance in telecom technology.
The 4G rollout uses the 700 MHz spectrum band, which is unique among Indian telecom operators and positions BSNL as a key player in current and future telecom developments, including the upcoming 6G technology plans highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BSNL's pan-India 4G launch marks a significant milestone in its efforts to reclaim market share and strengthen its position in the competitive Indian telecom sector. The company aims to complete the full 4G rollout across the country by the end of September 2025.
