AsianFin -- Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is reportedly planning to purchase hundreds of Boeing airliners and Lockheed Martin fighter jets, while pursuing over $10 billion in local production agreements, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The proposed deals remain subject to approval by U.S. President Donald Trump, the report added.

The potential purchases reflect Turkey’s ongoing efforts to modernize its air fleet and expand domestic defense production through partnerships with American aerospace giants. The combination of aircraft acquisitions and local production agreements could mark one of the largest U.S.-Turkey defense and aviation collaborations in recent years.

Details on the timeline, aircraft models, and the scope of local production plans have not been disclosed. Sources suggest that both sides are in preliminary discussions aimed at aligning commercial, strategic, and regulatory interests before formal agreements are finalized.
