AsianFin -- OpenAI is accelerating its push into consumer hardware, reportedly securing a manufacturing agreement with Luxshare Precision for at least one upcoming device.

In addition to Luxshare, OpenAI has engaged with GoerTek — the company behind assembly of AirPods, HomePods, and Apple Watches — to potentially supply components such as speaker modules for future products.

Sources revealed that OpenAI’s planned lineup could include a screenless smart speaker, along with potential development of glasses, digital voice recorders, and wearable pins. The first devices are expected to launch between late 2026 and early 2027.

The report also noted that OpenAI has recruited more than 20 Apple employees from the consumer hardware sector this year, signaling an aggressive strategy to expand its hardware capabilities.
